5. How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Therapy can be helpful if you’re feeling stuck, anxious, disconnected, or curious about yourself and your relationships. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Therapy can help you understand the patterns that keep you stuck, support you when making important decisions or life transitions, and help you improve interpersonal relationships and become more authentic.

6. How do I book a consultation?

You can schedule a free 20-minute consultation by contacting us. Many clinicians have enabled their calendars, allowing you to book time slots directly through our site.

7. Do you accept insurance?

CoreStory accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Cigna, and Evernorth. If you are out of network with us, we will help you submit your paperwork for reimbursement. Many clients receive partial reimbursement from their insurance companies, depending on their plan. Learn more about CoreStory insurance coverage and policies.

8. What is the cost of therapy sessions?

Session fees vary by therapist and the type of session. Sliding scale options may be available based on financial need. We believe therapy should be an investment in your growth, and we aim to make it as accessible as possible.

9. How often should I come to therapy?

Most clients attend therapy once per week, especially at the start. Over time, frequency may shift depending on your goals and progress. We’ll collaborate with you to find a rhythm that feels sustainable and meaningful.

10. How long does therapy last?

Therapy has no set timeline—it depends on your needs and intentions. Some clients work on a short-term basis (6–12 sessions) to address specific challenges, while others opt for ongoing work focused on long-term growth and self-understanding.

11. What can I expect in the first session?

Your first session is typically 60 minutes, and it is a chance for your therapist to learn more about your history, what brings you to therapy, and your goals. It is typically a bit more directive in that your therapist may ask you many questions. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out.

12. What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule sessions. Late cancellations or missed appointments are charged the full session fee, as that time is reserved specifically for you.

13. Where is your office located?

Our office is located in Midtown Manhattan, easily accessible by subway and within walking distance of Grand Central Station. You’ll receive detailed directions and building entry instructions when you book your in-person session.

14. What issues do you specialize in?

We work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism, identity exploration, relationship challenges, career exploration, and life transitions. Many clients also seek therapy to build self-compassion and reconnect with their authentic selves.

15. Is everything I share confidential?

Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Everything shared in therapy remains private, with rare legal exceptions (such as risk of harm).

16. What should I do if I need immediate assistance?

If you're experiencing a crisis or need immediate support, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988 or visit your nearest emergency room.
