Couples Therapy in Midtown Manhattan
Reconnect, communicate, and rewrite your shared story.
Every relationship goes through chapters of disconnection, misunderstanding, or pain. In a fast-paced city like New York, where schedules are packed and pressure runs high, it can be easy for couples to lose the thread that once connected them. At CoreStory Psychology, our mission is to help you and your partner rediscover that thread and begin writing a new, more connected chapter together.
Why Couples Seek Therapy
Couples therapy isn’t only for relationships in crisis. Many partners come to us because they want to strengthen their bond, improve communication, or navigate change with intention. Common reasons include:
Frequent arguments or cycles of conflict
Feeling distant, unheard, or disconnected
Recovering from a betrayal or breach of trust
Adjusting to life transitions such as new jobs, parenthood, relocation
Balancing cultural or family differences
Deciding whether to stay together or separate mindfully
Whatever brings you here, therapy offers a structured and compassionate space to understand what’s happening beneath the surface and begin moving toward repair.
Our Approach: Narrative and Evidence-Based
At CoreStory Psychology, we believe every couple has a story.
Our licensed psychologists draw from Narrative Therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) with a psychodynamic framework to help partners identify unhelpful patterns, explore emotional needs, and rebuild trust. By understanding the stories you tell about each other and yourselves, we uncover new possibilities for empathy and growth.
Therapy sessions focus on:
Slowing down recurring conflicts to reveal deeper emotions
Learning tools for healthy communication and listening
Rebuilding emotional safety and intimacy
Clarifying shared values and future goals
What to Expect
Couples sessions are 45-50 minutes and can take place in person at our Midtown Manhattan office or virtually for convenience.
During your first session, we’ll:
Learn about your relationship history and current challenges
Identify the goals you both want from therapy
Develop a roadmap for progress together
Many couples notice meaningful shifts within a few sessions as communication improves and tension begins to ease.
