Does it feel like old patterns of thinking aren’t working for you anymore? Are you finding it difficult to express yourself authentically? Maybe it’s hard to tell if what you want is change or a deeper acceptance of what cannot be changed. Sometimes, without even realizing it, the people in our lives can make us believe that our stories are set in stone, which can make it feel like we aren’t allowed to grow. I believe that therapy is about asking big questions and exploring new paths forward. You don't have to ponder these questions alone. As your therapist, my main goal will be to understand who you are right now, how you got here, and where you might go next. My work is rooted in the belief that we are all capable of self-discovery when given the right kind of support. I aim to create a safe, non judgmental space on your terms. I hope to make this exploration feel approachable and supportive, every step of the way.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, and it’s natural to have questions about what the process will be like. Together, we’ll give voice to feelings that may be difficult to understand or express. We’ll explore the past, the present, and the future, all at your own pace. Reaching out for help isn’t easy, but being here and reading this is already a huge step – it shows that you might be ready for something to change. Nothing we discuss will be considered taboo or unworthy of our time together. The complex ways in which we form our understanding of the world demand an environment of unwavering support. I’m here to help whenever you feel ready.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, I have been a New York City resident for the past 22 years. I graduated with honors from Fordham University, where I earned a Masters of Science in Education in Mental Health Counseling. Prior to my work as a psychotherapist, I worked in the music industry as an instrumentalist and composer. My experience in the arts has given me a deep appreciation for creativity and self-expression, as well as an understanding of the challenges involved in navigating career transitions and professional identity. In addition, my identity as a Korean American with a Japanese name – shaped by a family history impacted by war – has deepened my sensitivity to the complex intersections that shape cultural identity.
